BRESMA Children Updates Needed

Dear Families,

Following my email on November 8th, many of you did send in your annual reports.  Thank you!  However we are still missing many more reports.

Adoptive parents are required to submit one report each year, every year until the child is eighteen years old.  Our faithful submission of these reports keeps international adoption open for other Haitian children.  Our failure to do so may result in the eventual closure of Haitian adoptions.

If you have not already done so, please type up a short letter, perhaps in Word, with photos showing each child’s face clearly.  One page is sufficient.  You can write one letter for a sibling group. You do not need a social worker to write your report, and it need not be translated into French.  Please include some basic information, such as how your child is doing in school, if he/she goes to church, and lessons or activities he/she particularly enjoys, etc..  We need to be able to show the government that the children are growing and healthy and beloved.

Be sure to include your children’s birth names and birth dates in the letter.  You do NOT need to include your complete address – just your full names and your city and state.  We want to protect your privacy and identification.  I will deliver the reports to Haiti on my next trip.

Additionally, if you would be willing to include some laminated, printed out photos for any biological relatives who come to visit BRESMA, you would ease their hearts.  Biological parents visit the orphanage faithfully for years and years after a child has been placed for adoption, hoping for news or photos.  Please your child’s name at birth on the back of the photo.  If you child lived at an orphanage other than BRESMA, please firmly tape on a note indicating which orphanage should receive the photo.  It is a great kindness to your child’s first family to let them see for themselves that their child is alive and well.

Please mail a hard copy of your update report and photos to:

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.  It is critical to many children without families that we comply with the wishes of the Haitian government.

Sincerely,
